ABOUT THE ASSOCIATION
To organise events intended to improve the whole process of translation in line with its contemporary function; promote solidarity among translators and interpreters; simply share our professional experiences and future projects...
As stated by Prof. Hasan Anamur, Chairman of the Translation Association, the goal we have quoted above brought together in July 1998 a few white-collar workers dedicated to translation and a few academicians. The ideal of solidarity adopted by this tiny group of people with a view of the circumstances of our country and in order to raise the status of the translation sector to the level it merited, has gradually spread and grown in strength throughout the various segments of the translation world. The result has been the formation of this Association with the support of many volunteers to serve a wide spectrum of the sector.
Now that you are visiting this website, you are about to see information on the Association that we founded, after considerable efforts, on November 17th, 1999. As is clear from its name, our Association is a big stride taken towards bringing together anyone working in the TRANSLATION sector, regardless of the domain he/she is engaged in. Though the concept of translation naturally brings to mind a translator, the translation sector means much more than that to include translation company owners, publishers, editors, linguistic academicians working at the translation and interpreting departments of universities. In short, every single person effectively contributing to the translation process may do the same to this Association.
