If you have been doing translation, or working as an editor, or running a translation company or a publishing house, publishing books translated from foreign languages, for the last two years, or working as a translation lecturer or carrying out research in translation studies at a university, then you are right in the core of the translation sector. Article 4 of our By-laws regarding membership is as follows:
Any professional translator or editor aged 19 or over, any academician engaged in the field of translation and any translation company owner, adopting the By-laws of the Association, not restricted by law or entitled to exercise his/her civil rights may be a member of the Association. A student may not be a member of the Association, but may volunteer or benefit from the Association’s activities.
You need to submit reference letters issued in your name by at least two members of the Association. The Board of Directors of the Association shall consider your membership application within 30 days and notify you in writing of whether you are admitted to membership of the Association.
Pursuant to the Associations Law, public employees must first obtain permission from the related public authority to be a member of the Association. A foreigner having a lawful permanent resident status in Turkey may join the Association as a member.
